Zone Mastery - UI/UX Designer

  • Feature Owner and UX Direction - Took ownership of translating the underlying game design into a clear, player-facing UX, rather than treating the UI phase as purely a visual implementation of an existing design.

  • Re-design for Clarity - Leveraged player feedback, sentiment, and internal metrics to inform the redesign and identify key areas of confusion within the feature. Focused on creating a more intuitive experience that reduced uncertainty while helping players feel informed, rewarded, and delighted throughout their progression journey.

  • Collaboration - Partnered directly with the Lead Game Designer, Nat Loh, throughout the process to validate design intent, identify areas of ambiguity, and iterate on the experience before committing to the visual solution.

Role as a UI/UX Designer

Contributed to multiple player-facing features throughout my time at Beyond Games Studios, working within an established UI visual language while identifying opportunities to improve clarity, hierarchy, and overall usability. Collaborated closely with design, engineering, production, art, and other cross-functional partners to translate UX and UI designs into cohesive, production-ready experiences. Developed and maintained UI/UX documentation and process guidelines, helping establish consistency across design and implementation workflows. Created comprehensive UI redline and spec documentation for Engineering, clearly communicating dimensions, spacing, states, behaviors, asset requirements, and interaction details needed for implementation. Partnered with outsourcing teams to provide templates, visual direction, iterative feedback, and final design guidance, ensuring externally produced work aligned with the established product language. Participated in production planning and scoping rituals, helping teams assess feature requirements, identify risks, and establish realistic implementation plans. Contributed as part of the shipping team, working collaboratively across disciplines to ensure UI/UX work met the project's quality bar and remained aligned with production goals.
